Obtaining citizenship of Ukraine

Citizenship of Ukraine is a certain legal connection between the state and a citizen of Ukraine, as a result of which mutual rights and obligations arise.

Documents required to obtain Ukrainian citizenship

The list of documents for obtaining citizenship in each case is formed on an individual basis. Depending on your specific situation.

Among the main ones are the following documents:

• application for admission to the citizenship of Ukraine;
• four photographs (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm);
• notarized translation of the foreigner's passport;
• permission for immigration;
• a document confirming the absence or withdrawal from foreign citizenship;
• a document confirming the right to obtain Ukrainian citizenship (marriage certificate, certificate from the border service, birth certificate, etc.);
• to the right of the bank about the availability of money;
• a document confirming knowledge of the Ukrainian language;
• certificate of no criminal record on the territory of Ukraine;
• certificate of no criminal record abroad (must be legalized on the territory of Ukraine).

• acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship by birth;
• acquisition of citizenship by territorial origin;
• admission to the citizenship of Ukraine;
• renewal of Ukrainian citizenship;
• acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship through adoption;
• the acquisition of citizenship due to the establishment of custody or guardianship over the child, placement of the child in a children's institution or health care institution, in a family-type orphanage or foster family, or transfer to the family of a foster caregiver;
• acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship by a person recognized by a court as incapable as a result of the establishment of the guardianship of a citizen of Ukraine over him;
• acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship by a child in connection with the stay in the citizenship of Ukraine of her parents or one of them;
• acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship due to acknowledgment of paternity or maternity or establishment of the fact of paternity or maternity.

You can obtain Ukrainian citizenship if: you have been legally residing in Ukraine continuously for the past five years; be married to a citizen of Ukraine for at least 2 years and have an official confirmation of this; having significant services to Ukraine or if the adoption of citizenship is of state interest for Ukraine. Also, the adoption into the citizenship of Ukraine can be carried out with a permit for immigration to Ukraine.
